Taipei Churches

There seems to be more Catholic Churches in Taipei than in Tainan. I think some of this is due to the more Filipinos there are in Taipei. Many Filipinos are employed as maids and nannies in Taipei, that they speak English is a bonus. Especially that the children they take care of might learn some English outside of school.

Sometimes the old European architecture seems out of place.
There is a big Mormon Temple in Taipei and the their missionaries are easy to spot: Westerners in white shirts and ties, dark pants, riding bicycles in the hot Taipei weather. How they sell the saga of John Smith and Brigham Young to Chinese is a mystery to me. But they are known for their good Chinese speaking ability and that must have an initial fascination.

Now that Taiwan population is becoming older their is a need for healthcare workers. Many of these workers come from Muslim countries like Malaysia and Indonesian. And just like with the Filipinos, they bring their religion with them. There is a big Mosque in Taipei with a mix of Asians, Africans and Europeans.

When everything seems to be going wrong, the red characters on this Church might give you hope, It says: "Jesus Loves You"
