Another Newspaper Story

Some people, when they buy a carton of eggs, check the eggs for cracks. I use to think this was a waste of time until I read this story in the English Language newspapers.

Chicken farmer nearly dies after accidental poisoning

The China Post news staff--A chicken farmer who injected rat poison into raw eggs to get rid of the rodent almost got killed by his own clever scheme yesterday evening when he consumed an “egg-drop soup” prepared by his unwitting wife.

The farmer as well as his father, wife, son and daughter were also mildly poisoned, and were discharged from the hospital shortly after treatment.

Mad at the rats that have always been a step ahead of him in gathering the eggs,
Ah-jung, a Taitung guava grower who raises chickens on the side, used a syringe
to inject rat poison solution into several eggs and returned them to a nest a
few days ago. His wife yesterday made the soup that almost wiped out the entire
family, unwittingly using the poison-laced eggs as an ingredient.

Hospital sources said the poison was diluted in the soup and had the wife
simply fried the eggs, the consequences would have been far more serious.

Wow!
