Parking

Twenty years ago, when we lived in HsinChu we had a car and sometimes drove to Taipei. At that time, the Taipei subway was under construction and parking in Taipei was a problem. At that time I remember my brother-in-law saying that to own a car was nothing but to own a parking place was really something. nowadays the situation is the same. For those without a car(like us) the subway makes travel so easy, but for those with a car, the problem of finding a parking spot is the same.

Like all big cities, the parking Taiwan now goes double decker.
Sometimes it seems the trouble of getting a car in and out of the parking situation is less than using the subway system. Many building have an elevator system for reaching the parking on the subterranean levels.
But if you have a local spot you have to make sure that some other guy doesn't grab your spot. Here's the solution using a bicycle lock to preserve your spot.
This is a much more professional solution than I remember from 20 years ago where people just put chairs out on the road to preserve their spot.

But you know parking is really a problem when they start  double level parking of bicycles!

  2. There are some small cars, some big BMWs but mostly Japanese compacts like Corollas and Civic.
